The central figure is Muhammad, seated on the back of a fantastic beast called the Buraq. Muhammad. So what are you going to do? Go set fire to the Iranian embassy?

The "strict prohibition" against depicting Muhammad at all is a thing of the modern age. It is not long-standing or universal. Nor is the supposedly similar prohibition against depictions of living things or people; for evidence you need only look at Samarqand's Shir Dor Madrasasi, so named because it has a big fucking tiger on the front of it, And it's a religious school.

As Aaron at MBMIMOTMOG has noted, we cannot regard the actions of "a few bad apples" as representative of the whole of the worldwide Muslim community. However it bears noting that in the Muslim countries where this sort of thing is going on the prevailing belief must certainly not be what it is here, that governments have no say in what their newspapers print. Otherwise those people would be dismissed as cranks and ashamed to wave matches near candles, let alone near foreign embassies.

And what foreign embassies were they? Not the American embassy. That would have been despicable, too, but at least the US is responsible for actively fucking over Muslim countries. Not so Norway and Denmark. These are two countries who were so little on the minds of the people of the Middle East that in most of the pictures I saw of flag-burnings, the mock flags the protestors had made for themselves had the pole on the wrong side.
